Look no further than LiLoLa Designs!

In case you missed our March newsletter (and if you did, sign up here), we sat down with Lauren Norris, owner of LiLoLa Designs. Her company specializes in invitation design, but she’s willing to cater to any personal or business designing needs. We asked her things that every bride should know before starting the invitation process.

1. Tell me a little about you and your business.

I started doing wedding invitations back in 2005 – and my sister was my first client! I did everything for her wedding, from start to finish, and it turned out to be a great invitation package. After that first one, it just took off from there. I received my B.S. in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh back in 2004, and have lived and worked in Pittsburgh ever since.

2. How far in advance do you recommend meeting with the bride?

Nine months to a year in advance once they have their date and venue set.

3. Would you say most brides send out save-the-dates nowadays or skip them?

Today, the save-the-date is one of the most important pieces. So many couples have out-of-town guests, and having hotel and transportation information to your guests nine months in advance is very beneficial for their travel planning.

4. Do you have any tips for brides on a budget who still want beautiful invitations?

If you’re on a limited budget, there are still creative ways to have elegant invitations. One suggestion I would have is to look into colored or textured paper, with black and white ink. Black and white printing is less expensive than color printing, and you’re able to keep a color element involved. You can also add colored or textured envelopes for an additional touch.

5. Have you seen any new trends for save-the-dates and invitations recently?

The square-shaped card is becoming more popular, and I’ve also seen custom made boxes for invitations with fabric overlays. Both are very elegant looks that set the tone for your event.

6. Anything else you want us to share with our brides and readers?

The stationery pieces for your wedding are so important. Carrying your color scheme and personal style through each event (Save-the-Date, Shower Invitations, Wedding Invitations, Thank You Cards, Place Cards, etc.) looks so nice, and you end up having a great set of keepsakes from your wedding day!
